Free Spirit Media

North Lawndale College Prep students explore the issue of gangs within Chicago. These young people offer alternative solutions for staying out of gangs. This PSA challenges you to, "Be prepared and make the right choice."

  1. I think it is inspirational to see teenagers creating their own PSA's targeted for their peers. I think it might be interesting for the piece to be a bit more 'hip' to help persuade peers. I remember when I was a young teenager and students at my school did a PSA on say no to drugs or no smoking or something like that. At the time, I thought that the teachers that picked them didn't know what they were doing since some of these kids were the first to be going to parties with alcohol and smoking. It is really important for peer PSA's to keep in mind who the audience is and how to be honest with them and persuasive.

  2. I think this it is a magnificent thing when young people have an opinion and positive outlook on life. Teenagers speaking up against gang activity is very moving. They are bold enough to want to spread the message to their peers and smart enough to use an easily accessible media to get the message out.
